What exactly is JAMB Regularisation for Direct Entry Candidates?
To begin, what exactly is JAMB Regularisation?
This is JAMB’s official activity to regularise admissions of applicants who had not previously been admitted through JAMB or who had been admitted through JAMB but with certain flaws, such as being given admission by a school other than the one with whom JAMB has a record. Or if you are admitted to a course other than the one shown on the JAMB admission portal/letter. Or your school changed the course when you were in the 100 or 200 level.
The first question that a DE applicant who hears about regularisation for the first time has is, “Is regularisation for all candidates seeking direct entry?”
The answer to that is NO.
If you’ve gained your first admission through JAMB and your JAMB admission letter is available containing the same course and school with which you completed your studies, you won’t need JAMB regularization again.
The exercise is meant for candidates who were:
- not offered admissions through JAMB for their ND, NCE, BSC, etc. In other words, candidates were offered admissions directly by their schools (but not by JAMB).
- offered admissions through JAMB but not by the school where they actually had their ND, NCE, etc. That is, a different school offered you admission on JAMB CAPs but you went to another school instead.
- offered ND, NCE, or Degree admission through daily part-time, DPP, DPT, or similar programme.
If you are in any of the conditions mentioned above or something similar, please conduct regularisation before applying for a DE.
Those who do not fall under any of the following categories do not require JAMB regularisation before registering for Direct Entry. In other words, you were admitted via JAMB and completed your BSC, NCE, or ND at the same school and for the same subject.
Individuals pursuing Direct Entry admissions through IJMB or any of the aforementioned advanced courses will not encounter the necessity for regularization. Consequently, they can proceed directly to CBT centers, acquire an e-PIN, and commence their DE registration.
When Does the Regularization Application Commence? Regulation, as a continuous process, lacks a specific initiation or termination date. Rather, visit a JAMB office or CBT center at your convenience to facilitate the registration and processing.
Nevertheless, during periods of heightened activity in JAMB offices or busy CBT attendants engaged in other JAMB-related tasks, you might be advised to return on a specified date for the regularization application.
What is the Cost of the Regularization Application? The prescribed fee stands at N5,000 for candidates possessing a valid JAMB registration number.
This constitutes an Application For Change Admission Letter, allowing candidates to print an admission letter for their chosen institutions/courses, deviating from their initially selected courses/institutions. Post-processing and approval, a fresh admission letter can be printed.
For JAMB regularization of candidates lacking a valid JAMB registration number, the official charge is N8,500.
This encompasses the Condonement of Illegitimate Admission. In instances of tardy applications, a fee of ₦3,500 is applicable, while Condonement of Illegitimate Admission incurs a ₦5,000 charge. Submission of a form initiates the approval process, and upon approval, a Registration Number is allocated.
The stipulated fees exclude the online Remita charge and JAMB-in-office or CBT service charge. Aspiring applicants should budget approximately N1000 for the CBT charge.
What Steps Remain After Online Registration?
For additional processing, you need to turn in your printed JAMB regularisation indemnification form/slip to the school where you completed your BSC, ND, or NCE. This school will attest to and stamp its portion before forwarding it to the closest JAMB for validation and clearance.
What is the JAMB Regularisation Closing Date?
No closing date, as previously stated. It’s an activity that you do nonstop. However, you must register it and complete the other procedures before the DE closes or even begins, as you must the registration in order to submit your DE application. This is due to the possibility that it will take several weeks or even months to receive approval.
